About

Prairie Haven is a solo nurse practitioner practice. That means one practitioner who knows your story, and appointments long enough to hear it.

Your practitioner

Lorissa surname, NP

Where we trained, how long we have practised, what we did before this, and the honest reason we went out on our own — to come.

What drew us to end-of-life care. This is the question that makes a stranger trust us with the hardest thing in their life — to come.

What drew us here

A sentence we would say to someone who has just been told there is nothing more to be done — to come. This becomes the line at the top of this section.

How care works here

What to expect

Culturally sensitive care

Care that starts with your history, your beliefs and your family, not with assumptions about them. That includes making room for the people you want in the room, and for the practices that matter to you at the end of life.

One concrete example, in our own words — worth more than a paragraph of principle.

Unhurried appointments

Appointments are long enough to actually talk. You see the same practitioner each visit, so you are not starting from the beginning every time.

Straight answers

We tell you what we know and what we do not. If something needs a specialist, a test, or more time than one appointment allows, we say so plainly.

How quickly we reply, and what happens when we are away — to confirm.

The practice

Independent, and staying that way

Prairie Haven is an independent practice. Bookings, records and business are separate from any other clinic. Prairie Haven shares an Accuro licence with a neighbouring nurse practitioner so that holiday and sick cover can be arranged without a gap in care, nothing more than that.

Records live inside Accuro, the electronic medical record, and booking happens inside Medeo. Both are built for health information and governed by Saskatchewan's Health Information Protection Act. How your information is handled.
